Caravans

Caravans are groups of Truck Campers/Demonstrable/Slide-Ons traveling and camping together. We have already done a few of these in North America, both organized and ad hoc. We have a carved object, called the "NATCC Baton", that we carry with us & pass on to new caravans. It would be nice to get it into Australia & Europe at some time. If anyone wants to take on organizing a caravan, let us know. We will assist in whatever means possible.

NATCC History

The NATCC or North American Truck Camper caravan is a concept that originated with 2 people, Bill Delorey of Brewster, Massachusetts, USA and Jerry Gale of Kingston, Nova Scotia, Canada. The concept was to carry a Baton on a continuous Caravan around North America, picking up & dropping off participants along the way. Bill carved the Baton, pictured below & the Caravan was launched on June 8th, 2004 at Plymouth Rock, the landing site of the Mayflower.

Progress of the Caravan has been somewhat limited by the lack of participants so far, but we are confident this will change as we gain membership. It started doing a few trips in the NE USA, & in summer 2005, took a trip around the Pacific NW or the USA & SW Canada. As of spring 2006, it is in Los Angeles. The rule is that it must travel in a Truck Camper. We may have to make an exception to this if we pass it on to Europe and/or Australia. Just imagine, several thousand years from now, later day Knights may be going on a quest to search for the NATCC Baton, just as those in the past searched for the Holy Grail.
